2018 Mid-Year Report

Rhythms of Grace

Our worship service for children and families with special needs to continues to flourish! We have up to 30 people attending each month. Recently, Christ Church was awarded a table from the nonprofit David's Table. Each year, David's Table gives this award to a church that is going above and beyond to serve their members with disabilities.

Youth Participation

  • Over 30 youth participated in the food packing event.
  • We had 21 rising 6th graders and chaperones attend the 5th Grade Bridge retreat (and four youth were on the team that planned the retreat).
  • In 2017, we had 21 youth helpers for Vacation Bible School (VBS). This year, we have over 40 youth who have signed up to assist with VBS.
  • This summer, 16 youth will attend a middle school mission trip from June 24 - 29 in Raleigh, NC. This is the first mission trip offering for middle schoolers in several years.

Choir Growth

Regular opportunities for fellowship and community building, as well as beautiful music-making, are hallmarks of the Parish Choir's life together. These opportunities, along with the musical support of our professional section leaders, have enhanced and facilitated the growth that is evident in our choir. Over the last two years, the Parish Choir has grown from approximately 23 members to 47 members.

More Support for Outreach

Due to a stronger budget, we have recently been able to budget for disaster relief. We have also been able to provide monetary support for our seminarians. Over 600 people have participated in such ministries as the Book Distribution, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Mission Backpacks, Sterling Tutoring, and a food packing event. Faith in Action also increased their giving this year to many of our partners.

Staff Growth

As the church works to stay up-to-date, we have been able to hire staff for specific and urgent needs. We have expanded communications to include a part-time communications coordinator, Avery Allen. She will work to elevate our social media presence. In addition, we recently welcomed Suzanne Mize to our staff. Suzanne is a CPA with nonprofit experience. She will manage all large business and administrative tasks as the Parish Administrator.
