Faith in Action: Mission Trips

Christ Church mission trips are experiences of faith in action that provide service to neighbors, mutual partnership and transformation opportunities for those served and those serving, and the experience of joy and apostleship.

In general, Christ Church Mission Trips:

  • Provide opportunities for mutual transformation through loving service to our neighbors.
  • Partner with Anglican communities with similar polity and piety.
  • Explore our spiritual kinship as fellow members of the Church expressed through the Anglican Communion.
  • Share in common work with local communities.
  • Link to our common life in the parish through commissioning, celebration, and reporting.
  • Offer participants enough information to be comfortable, confident and safe while on the trip.

Every Christ Church Mission Work Trip:

  • Offers easy and relaxed transitions in and out of mission community.

  • Encourages participation in local Anglican/Episcopal worshiping communities.
  • Has a discrete work component: Work should be discrete: have a beginning, an end, and a sense of accomplishment and understanding of project in larger ministry.

  • Includes a structured approach to Episcopal prayer and worship within the group.
  • Provides Sabbath Time – both as component of each day and as a day or more for each trip.
  • Presents reflection and debriefing each day and after return.
