The following one-time Faith in Action activities are currently available:

Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels Greenville currently has a need for volunteers to fill open routes. You can do it just once, weekly, monthly, or as often as you'd like. Learn more or email volunteer@MOWgvl.org to sign up for a route!

Mission Backpack
Did you know that a number of children in Greenville County do not eat unless they are at school and receive free breakfast and lunch. Christ Church is teaming up once again with Loaves and Fishes and Robert E. Cashion Elementary School to provide meals for children in need over the weekend during the school year. Volunteers are needed to go shopping, pack 50 shopping bags, and deliver bags. Let Debbie Rice know if you are interested in helping or want to know more about this great ministry.

United Ministries
Interested in tutoring or volunteering? You can help those in our community who lack education or employment skills, are in financial crisis or are homeless by working with United Ministries, a faith-based organization that advocates and provides opportunities.

Volunteers are currently needed to help with:

  • Tutors to work with students preparing for the GED test.
  • Computer lab: to assist participants with searching online for job openings, filling out applications, updating resumes, writing cover letters and more. Volunteers are needed Monday and Tuesday afternoons, Wednesday mornings, and Thursday morning and afternoon.
  • Place of Hope, the day shelter for the homeless, needs volunteers to assist in signing in participants and hand out hygiene supplies. Volunteers are needed between 8:00 - 11:00 AM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
  • Administrative help is needed on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:00 AM - 12 noon and 1:00 - 5:00 PM.

Contact Claire Winkler at 335.2618 if you are interested in helping with this great organization!

A Child's Haven
Share your time and help children and parents in need by volunteering with A Child's Haven, which works to transform the lives of young children who have experienced developmental delays or behavioral challenges. Many of the children served by A Child's Haven are victims of poverty, child abuse or domestic violence. Volunteers are needed in a number of different areas:

  • childcare and meal providers for parent meetings on Tuesday and Thursdays evenings,
  • classroom art and reading activities on Wednesdays,
  • classroom sponsors (field trips, holiday parties, birthday parties), and
  • clerical and special events support.

Interested? Please contact Alicia Pflug, 298.0025, ext. 19.

Greenville Literacy Association
Thousands for Greenville County adults need your help to improve their reading, writing and math skills, prepare for the GED or WorkKeys tests, or learn to speak English. Share your skills with them at Greenville Literacy and give a gift that lasts a lifetime. For more information about volunteering, call 467.3456 or visit their website.

Loaves and Fishes
Help those who are hungry here in Greenville by volunteering with Loaves & Fishes. This organization connects donors of perishable and prepared food with local human services agencies that feed the hungry. If interested in food rescue and the requirements for route volunteers, contact Loaves & Fishes.

American Leprosy Missions
Are you detail oriented and have a knack for organizing? Do you have a green thumb? Are you able to fix just about anything? Got any other special talents that you’d love to share? The American Leprosy Missions are looking for volunteers to help with various special projects such as library cataloging, gardening and general office maintenance. Contact Bekah Schwanbeck at American Leprosy Missions if you would like to help.

Christ Church will provide hospitality and host up to four homeless families for a week in the All Saints Center. The Greenville Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (GAIHN) committee is in need of volunteers to cook, serve, and stay the night during this period. Contact Jenny Peer‬ if you would like to help.

Safe Harbor
Do you like to organize or have an eye for colors and fashion? If so, Safe Harbor's Resale Shop could use your help. Volunteers are needed to assist with sorting and tagging clothing and other donations. Proceeds from the Resale Shop furthers Safe Harbor's work to help victims of domestic violence in Greenville, Pickens and Oconee counties. To volunteer, contact Kim at 242.1751.

Project Host
The Project Host Soup Kitchen provides a hot lunch to needy people seven days a week. Volunteers can work a weekday shift, help prepare bag lunches on weekends, or work with neighborhood children in the "cook" program. Volunteers are also needed to help with the garden and greenhouse. Contact Sally Green for more information.
