Joshua's Way: 2017 Lenten Discipline

As you prepare for Lent this year, we invite you to add Joshua’s Way to your Lenten disciplines. This important campaign will support a housing development called Joshua’s Way in the Sterling Community. This collaborative ministry between Christ Church, Habitat for Humanity, Homes of Hope, and other local churches and businesses, will enable up to ten structures to be built on a piece of property Christ Church is transferring to Habitat for Humanity.

The development comprises of 1.6 acres located between Dunbar and Jenkins Streets. The project is foreseen to include seven new, affordable, single family homes and six duplexes for rent to senior citizens.

The historic integrity of the neighborhood will be retained and building standards followed, with front porches facing each other that invite neighbors to become friends. A community garden or playground is also planned.

Your support has an immediate and sustaining impact on the lives of families. Money raised will go toward one of Christ Church’s builds. We are asking each Christ Church parishioner to set aside a small amount each day that will add up to make a big impact in the lives of these families and therefore the future of the Greenville community. Here is an example of what your donation can achieve:

$0.50 per day provides a kitchen sink and faucet
$1.00 per day provides front entry and lock set to keep a family safe
$2.00 per day provides interior doors and trim
$3.00 per day provides roofing shingles for one home

Please bring your donation in the enclosed envelope on Easter Sunday, April 16. We will collect the envelopes during the service as we approach the altar for Communion.

Contact Debbie Rice or Frances Poe for more information about this special campaign.

Thank you for your support!
