Missions and Outreach

"If you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday." - Isaiah 58:10

Since St. Paul gathered the collection for the poor of Jerusalem, the Christian Church has recognized the social implications of its belief.  For almost two thousand years churches have taken care of the poor, fed the hungry and soothed the sick.  We meet Christ, not only in the proclamation of the Word and the celebration of the sacraments, but also in loving service to our neighbors, particularly in those persons and relationships where He has taught us to look for Him.  This work is part of our tradition of faithful stewardship and mission in the world.

We want to be the kind of community that tells through our work in the world the story of Jesus Christ.  We are people who are called to be disciples and sent to be apostles.

We do this through engagement with our time, talent, and treasure in two cardinal Mission & Outreach projects:
•    Haiti – particularly broad projects centered in Cange.  Read about our support following the January 12 earthquake.
•    and Sterling  - a community on the west side of Greenville;

with a broad range of ministries serving the greater Greenville community in the focal areas of:
•    Wellness,
•    Education,
•    and Food & Shelter;

with a number of Special Events throughout the year including GROW, Miracle Manger,  the Annual Golf Outing to Benefit Sterling Community Center and others;

and by fostering mission and community engagement throughout the parish.
