Followers of Christ: Faithfully Engaged in His Mission

Known as the “Parish in the heart of the city,” Christ Church Episcopal is blessed by the beauty of its physical surroundings, which have been preserved and expanded by the energy and vision of its faithful stewards, both past and present. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the church’s mission statement has become a reality under the outstanding leadership and commitment of our clergy, staff, lay leadership, and parishioners.

Christ Church is home to a diverse group of parishioners, composed of individuals who live in Greenville proper as well as various communities in and around the Upstate. We are a house of worship, prayer, education, and caring for all people, both in our parish and within our community, and offer a place for everyone.

God calls Christ Church to be a living witness to Christ’s Grace by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our mission is clear:

We will pray and worship, teach and learn the faith, encourage generosity, engage all parishioners in the sharing of God’s gifts, love and serve our neighbor, and proclaim God’s love for everyone.

We live out our vision as followers of Christ, faithfully engaged in God's mission in many ways:

• Worshiping through services that renew and strengthen us in Christ
• Growing in our commitment to Christ through various parish programs
• Reaching out to others in our community and beyond
• Serving and supporting those in need in our own parish by visiting, supporting, praying, or lending a hand
• Equipping ourselves to accomplish the mission of Christ Church

From its humble beginnings as a mission in the unsettled Piedmont region of South Carolina, Christ Church has grown into a downtown church of 4,000 strong – a warm, welcoming, faithful parish. We feel it is our call to create an environment that equips all for living with and through Christ, sharing our faith, and welcoming others.
