The Christ Church Healing Support Group was founded by cancer survivors who wanted a support group with a Christian foundation. It has now been extended to all suffering from any long-term or life-threatening disease. We also welcome the caretakers of our members. We try to keep the door open to all in need, whether or not they are members of our church. We do, however, prefer to keep our numbers small to facilitate our mission of sharing and thriving together. We hope to bring comfort and support to all in need by sharing our means of coping and by praying for each other.
As an outreach ministry, we volunteer at a cancer treatment center to bring comfort to patients and deliver prayer shawls made by the Christ Church Needlers. We have shared our cancer stories in the context of scriptures through a booklet which is sold in the Christ Church Bookstore. At times, we have also studied books and meditation. Most of the time, we devote our meetings to sharing soup, a devotion, prayer, and dialogue about our healing journeys.
We meet the first Monday of each month at noon in the All Saints Center. If you would like to join us, please contact Jimsie Hart (241-9933) or Martha Miller (232-6334).
