Faith Development: Senior Adults

Through trips, classes, lunches and programs we engage each other and challenge ourselves to continue our transformational encounters with Christ. Christ Church Senior Adults enjoy fellowship and Christian community while blessing the parish and city with our depth of spiritual maturity and wisdom.

Bela Fleck in Concert: Saturday, August 17, 4:30 – 11:30 PM, Brevard
This was the most popular Concert we attended last year and tickets sell out early. Reserve now or risk missing out on America’s best banjo player and about 30 more student and professional players. The cost is $45.00 per person and includes a picnic supper, tickets and transportation. Bring your own lawn chair and umbrella since this is a rain-or-shine event. This month we are discussing everyday life in the Mediterranean/Palestinian World of Jesus’ day. Better understanding of everyday life helps us understand the points of view, experiences and beliefs of those alive then.

Isolation-- both social and spiritual, depression, decreased cognitive function— these are some of the possible consequences of hearing loss. Join doctors from Davis Audiology to learn how we lose our hearing, how it affects us, and treating hearing loss. Please bring a canned good for United Ministries if you are able. Cancelled reservations after Tuesday noon must, regrettably, still be paid.

Say hello to fall at an old Greenville institution. If you aren’t a lover of steak the Peddler has the best salad bar in town so there’s something for everyone. We’ll meet for a drink at 5:30 PM and dine at 6:00 PM. Join us, please, for dinner and fellowship.

Lunch Bunch Adventure to Sky Top Orchard: Tuesday, September 24, 9:00 AM
Transportation on the Christ Church Bus

We’ll stop first at Sky Top Orchard for apples, cider, and doughnuts and then go to Pisgah Inn for lunch with a scenic drive on the way. Remember that Sky Top takes checks and cash only. The cost for the day is transportation on the Christ Church bus for $5.00 plus your purchases and lunch.

Prayer and Practicality Christ-Centered Life Planning
Sundays, September 15, 22, 29 12 noon - 2:00 PM, McCall Parlor

Navigating life’s transitions and preparing for our futures through education about advanced care, choosing living arrangements and facing life’s challenges are easier with fellow travelers in Christ. We’ll discuss practical matters through the lens of our faith to decrease fear of the unknown, provide information and help each other on our journeys. Call for more information and reserve a place by the previous Friday. If you are over 18 you are invited to join us and create your advanced care documents. Cost $6.00, Payable at the Door

Rite 1 Service and Fellowship Time: Wednesdays at 10:30 AM, Markley Chapel

This is a midweek re-charging of the spirit through worship and conversation. We gather in the coffee area outside Markley Chapel for light refreshments and fellowship following the service.

Art of the Spirit: Thursdays 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Room 222
We are on a journey to deeper faith through artistic expression and conversation. This month we are exploring our spiritual journeys through abstract ink paintings. If you can cut and paste but can’t draw a straight line you’ll fit right in so join us. but call . Call Annette Cook, 672.4141, before Thursday before class in case we are on a field trip.

Friendly Bridge: Mondays, 1:30 - 3:30 PM, Graham Library
This group is for beginners, advanced players, and those who think they MIGHT want to learn bridge so all skill levels are welcome. You do not have to be a member to join us. Worship Service at Autumn Leaves
The 2nd Friday of every month, 10:00 AM, 352 Pelham Road

This new service is an outreach of the Senior Adult Ministry, and parishioners are invited to worship and visit with the residents of Autumn Leaves. If you plan to attend, please contact Annette Cook, 697.4141 by 12 noon on the Thursday before.

Worship at the Cascades
The 3rd third Friday of every month, 10:30 AM, 10 Fountainview Terrace

The Rev. Jeffrey Meadowcroft celebrates the Eucharist at the Cascades the 3rd Friday of each month. Everyone is invited to join our Christ Church residents for an informal, holy time. 

Wednesday Morning Fellowship: 11:00 AM, Coffee Area Outside the Chapel
Worship and fellowship in this setting create the perfect atmosphere to meet parishioners, solidify friendships, and enjoy a mid-week break. We gather in the coffee area outside Markley Chapel for light refreshments and fellowship following the service.
