Introducing the Christ Church Angel Tree Store

Store Open Saturday, December 4

What is the Angel Tree Store?

The Angel Tree Store is a new ministry for Christ Church. This year, we will be setting up a temporary toy store in the Elementary Gym at Legacy Early College and we will invite the parents of 100 children to come shop for their kids.

This ministry will provide many opportunities for our generous congregation to get involved, from purchasing gifts, to volunteering in the store, putting together toys, praying with families, and more!

While this ministry is new to Christ Church, we are lucky to have the helpful guidance from our friends at First Presbyterian Church who have held a similar store for the past 9 years.

First Pres put together a video several years ago that gives a great overview of the Christmas Store, how it works and its benefits.

You can watch this short video here: https://vimeo.com/243871253

In the video, Beth talks about the three benefits of this ministry:

  1. Parents will make a financial investment of $5 per child which brings a level of dignity in being able to provide Christmas for their children.
  2. Parents, who know their children best, will get to choose the gifts their children receive Christmas morning. Part of the joy of being a parent at Christmas is picking out the perfect gift for your child and anticipating the excitement they will show Christmas morning when they open that gift. This ministry allows for the parents to experience that same joy.
  3. Lastly, and arguably one of the biggest benefits is the connection to the community and the ability to truly be the hands and feet of Christ. Our congregation will have the opportunity to engage with our neighbors and show the parents that enter the store that they are loved.

How Can I Get Involved?

Stock the Store

This year, when you choose an angel from the Angel Tree it will look a little different. There will be a QR code with a link to several ways you can help stock the toy store. We will have an Amazon wish list where you can choose a toy to be shipped directly to the church or a sign-up genius where you can sign-up to purchase a toy and bring it unwrapped to the church. There will be various options to give from bikes and electronics to basketballs and puzzles so you can choose the financial commitment you are able to give. Angels will be available starting in November.

Fill A Stocking

Sign up to fill a stocking for a child. Stockings will be available starting in November with suggestions on items to fill the stockings.

Volunteer

We will have several opportunities to volunteer from toy sorters, toy assemblers, gift-wrappers, greeters, shoppers and more! Be on the lookout for Volunteer sign ups (with descriptions) starting in November.
