🌿 31 Tips for 31 Days of Mental Health Wellness

Week 1: Awareness & Slowing Down

  1. Pause and Breathe – Take 5 slow, deep breaths before starting your day. “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
  1. Name Your Feelings – Ask: What am I feeling right now? “Search me, O God… know my thoughts.” Psalm 139:23
  1. Limit Morning Noise – Delay news/social media for the first 30 minutes. “Let the peace of Christ control your hearts.” Colossians 3:15
  1. Step Outside – Spend at least 10 minutes in fresh air. “The heavens declare the glory of God”. Psalm 19:1
  1. Practice Gratitude – Write down 3 things you are thankful for. “Give thanks in all circumstances.” 1Thessalonians 5:18
  1. Check Your Self-Talk – Replace one negative thought with a truthful one. “Be transformed by the renewing of your minds.” Romans 12:2
  1. Rest Without Guilt – Take a short rest and remind yourself it is productive. “Come to me…and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Week 2: Connection & Support

  1. Reach Out – Call or text someone just to check in. Bear one another’s burdens.” Galatians 6:2
  1. Be Fully Present – Put your phone away during conversations. “Do not worry about tomorrow.” Matthew 6:24
  1. Ask for Help – Practice saying, “I could use some support.” “My help comes from the Lord.” Psalm 121:2
  1. Encourage Someone – Offer a sincere compliment. “Encourage one another and build up each other.” 1Thessalonians 5:11
  1. Set a Boundary – Say “no” to something that drains you. “Guard your heart with all vigilance.” Proverbs 4:23
  1. Spend Time in Community – Join a group, class, or gathering. Like good stewards…serve one another with whatever gift each has been given.” 1 Peter 4:10
  1. Listen More Than You Speak – Create space for others’ stories. “Let everyone be quick to listen.” James 1:19

Week 3: Body & Mind Care

  1. Move Your Body – Walk, stretch, or exercise for 20 minutes. “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit?” 1 Corinthians 6:19
  1. Hydrate Well – Drink more water than usual today. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6:20
  1. Prioritize Sleep – Go to bed 30 minutes earlier. “I will both lie down and sleep in peace.” Psalm 4:8
  1. Eat Mindfully – Slow down and savor your meals. “Whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” 1Corinthians 10:31
  1. Take a Break – Step away from work/screens every hour. “Come away…and rest awhile.” Mark 6:31
  1. Practice Stillness – Sit quietly for 5–10 minutes. Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
  1. Laugh – Watch or read something that makes you smile. “A cheerful heart is good medicine.” Proverbs 17:22

Week 4: Growth & Reflection

  1. Journal Freely – Write without editing your thoughts. “Write the vision; make it plain.” Habakkuk 2:2
  1. Release Control – Let go of one thing you cannot change. Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Proverbs 3:5
  1. Learn Something New – Read, listen, or try a new skill. “Let the wise also hear and gain in learning.” Proverbs 1:5
  1. Celebrate Progress – Acknowledge even small wins. “This is the day that the Lord has made.” Psalm 118:24
  1. Forgive (a little more) – Yourself or someone else. “Forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you.” Colossians 3:13
  1. Reflect on Purpose – Ask: What really matters today? What does the Lord require of you…to do justice, to love kindness and walk humbly with God.” Micah 6:8
  1. Simplify – Clear one small space in your home or schedule. “Set your minds on things above, not on things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:2

Remaining Days of May: Renewal & Hope

  1. Spend Time in Nature – Let creation calm your mind. “God saw everything…it was very good.” Genesis 1:31
  1. Speak Kindness to All You Meet – Remember the worth of every one of God’s children. “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted.” Ephesians 4:32
  1. Look Forward with Hope –Set aside time to listen for God’s voice. “For I know the plans I have for you…to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
