CCEP Academics

A strong, nurturing academic program is the foundation for any first-class preschool program. Our experienced and involved staff combined with our low student-to-teacher ratio makes us well-prepared to foster individual learning, positive group interactions and creative expressions with all of our children from infants to K4.

Beginning in August 2026, our teachers will use Experience Curriculum resources to enhance their talents and strengths. Additionally, we are excited to be partnering with Camperdown Academy to bring professional development to our teachers centered around Orton-Gillingham strategies to strengthen early literacy foundations.

A Christian Education - We believe that spiritual growth is integral to child development. We are committed to teaching children the truths about the Christian faith. As part of our school life, the children will receive formal instruction in Christian Education and attend chapel service every week (K2-K4). The toddler age groups will participate in a modified in-room chapel service once a week for the second half of the year.

Related Arts - For students in K2, K3, and K4 we offer a daily related arts - Chapel, P.E., Music, Spanish, and Christian Education.

Curriculum Highlights & Sample Schedules by Age Group:

The infant program provides a loving and nurturing environment for children ages six weeks to approximately one year, focusing on each individual baby's needs.

  • Dramatic Play - rattles, pretend play, dolls, stuffed animals, puppets, dress-up
  • Sensory/Art - sand, flour, water, paint play, tactile exploration with textures, filling/dumping
  • Curiosity - peek-a-boo, mirror play, smells, mobiles, sorting, block play
  • Music - songs, musical instruments
  • Literacy - books, teacher talk(vocabulary), rhymes, fingerplays, picture files
  • Movement - pat-a-cake, dump and load, activity gym, reaching/grasping, outdoor play/walks

The toddler program nurtures children ages 1-2 while encouraging their development through stimulating activities and interactive experiences.

  • Dramatic Play - dress up, mirror play, puppets, dolls, stuffed animals, props, (shopping carts, etc.)
  • Sensory/Art - paint, murals, crayons, sand play, stickers, sponges, shaving cream, chalk, play dough
  • Curiosity - problem-solving, sounds, lacing, “feely” box, puzzles

  • Literacy - stories, making books, flannel stories, word games, pictures/labels, narration, teacher talk

  • Children’s Literature - Encourages a love of reading and develops emergent reading skills such as the correct use of a book, one-to-one correspondence, and ability to track print
  • Oral Language - Teaches through discussions, questioning, flannel stories, songs, nursery rhymes and finger play
  • Phonics - Introduces letter recognition and beginning sounds
  • Shapes - Teaches to recognize, trace, and begin drawing circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, stars, hearts, diamonds, and ovals
  • Recognition - Teaches all primary colors and introduces pastels
  • Foundational Math Skills - Instructs how to count to 15, make sets to 10, number recognition to 10, patterns (AB, ABC), graphing, and sorting
  • Science - Leads bi-weekly scientific experiments
  • Fine & Gross Motor Skills - Heavily emphasized through indoor and outdoor play, as well as direct instruction, on a daily basis
  • Beginning Writing - Starts with tracing letters and shapes, and works towards writing name independently
  • Social Skills - Honed through conflict resolution, sharing, working successfully independently and in groups
