Out of the Light: Creating Sacred Spaces for Self and Others
Course begins September 14 and runs through November 9

Class Time - 9:30 - 11:45 AM
Location - Off campus in participants' homes

Out of the Light is the first phase of the Engaging Spirituality module from JustFaith Ministries. It is for those who are seeking an undivided life that reinforces the link between “loving God and loving our neighbors as ourselves” (Mt. 22:36-40). Creating Sacred Space for Self and Others offers daily practices for living deeply (a contemplative life) and loving broadly (a compassionate life). The program welcomes participants into the present moment, embraces silence and active listening, and cultivates gratitude and wonder. Please email Jean Martin at for more information.

How do we live peacefully in these times? Nonviolence is different from passivity. It is a way of life grounded in a deeply-held moral conviction. It is a strategy, a method of confronting conflict or oppression that seeks to honor life. Cultivating Nonviolence: Harvesting Peace, an 8-session program by JustFaith Ministries, explores how nonviolence can transform our personal lives, our community, and our nation. You are invited to join us for this study. To register or ask a question contact either Tom Johnson ( 864-991-5145) or John Huggett ( 828-713-1345).

Books we'll be reading for this class:
The book that we will be studying is Personal Nonviolence: A Practical Spirituality for Peacemakers by Gerard Vanderhaar. Class participants are asked to purchase their own copy. It is available online from the JustFaith website, from Amazon (including used copies at reduced prices), and from Bookshop (which allows you to support a local bookstore such as M. Judson Booksellers).
