The Book of Common Prayer defines Holy Matrimony as "a solemn and public covenant between two people in the presence of God." In the Episcopal Church, it is required that at least one of parties be a baptized Christian. At Christ Church, at least one of the persons wishing to be married must have been a member in good standing of the parish for one year or longer.
